Ok, I’m going to be honest, I hate writing bios. I have one for work and I can barely look at it when I have to update it. I also hate updating my resume for the same reason and writing cover letters and writing award packages or performance appraisals for myself (don’t ask why I’m writing those). Yeah…ok here goes. I’m a librarian and have been since 2003. I live in Charleston, South Carolina (supposedly one of the friendliest cities in America). I was born and raised in Alaska but got the heck out of there when I graduated from high school (sayonara cold!). I received my bachelor’s degree in English Literature from the University of Washington (Go Huskies!) and later, my Master’s in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I’ve officially lived in six states (Alaska, Washington, Colorado, Florida, California and South Carolina) and one U.S Territory (Guam). I’ve been to Canada, Mexico, Italy and England. I love to travel but don’t get to do it very often. I’ve been to almost every state in union. I haven’t lived in Alaska for 20 years but it’s still considered home and I will always be an Alaskan first. I was an Army brat. My parents instilled some serious morals and ethics in me which I’ve come to appreciate as I get older. I have considerably high standards for both myself and others. I am fiercely devoted to my family and the small group of people I consider my close friends. I try not to judge people since I don’t really want people judging me. Who am I to judge when I haven’t walked in their shoes? I’m a total workaholic. Vodka is my drink of choice. I am the stereotypical librarian, meaning I have two cats, I love cardigans, love to read, and yes, my books are arranged loosely in dewey decimal order and my movies are alphabetical by title. All that’s missing is the glasses, which I’m sure will be coming soon since everyone else in my family has them. Ummmm…naturally I love book clutter. They make my home feel warm and inviting. I’ll admit I’m a bit of a book hoarder and I’m perfectly ok with that “situation”. I drink a lot of chai, iced tea, and Thai iced tea….basically I love tea. Go Tea!!! I’m a pretty private person and most people initially think I’m pretty shy, but once I feel comfortable around someone, I tend to open up and out pops my sarcastic sense of humor. I’m actually fairly easy going and tend to just go with the flow when I’m allowed (work sometimes prevents that which I absolutely loathe). I like camping in the woods, not on the beach. And I like sitting on the beach watching the waves flow in an out. Yeah, so that’s basically me. On my blog you’ll find my book reviews (naturally) and maybe a few other tidbits of my life as I’m out and about in the world doing what I’m doing. Maybe I’ll run into you sometime.
