Book Review: Paranoia by J.R. Johansson (Night Watchers, #2)

Paranoia - Johansson

Paranoia

By J.R. Johnasson

Series: The Night Walkers, Book 2

My Rating: 5 Stars

This is such a refreshing series.  It’s everything a YA series should be.  I loved reading Insomnia and couldn’t put it down.  I loved it so much, I snatched up Paranoia before I finished, knowing it would absolutely be my next read.  There would be no taking a break and reading something else before I moved on in this series.  And I’m glad I didn’t wait.  Paranoia was even better than the first.  A deliciously satisfying read, it does not fit the bill for a typical bridge book.  If you haven’t read Insomnia, maybe my review of Paranoia will convince you it’s worth it to go out and grab this series now.

Synopsis

Parker Chipp is finally getting a grip on his ability.  After having almost died from a lack of sleep, he’s now able to control his ability and survive being a night walker.  But then a powerful alter-ego emerges and before Parker knows what’s happening he’s losing time and finding himself in situations that are less than ideal.  While Parker tries to get a handle on this alter ego, he’s faced with a far more dangerous threat.  Another breed of Night Walker, the Takers, are trying to create an immortality pill.  This will cause untold damage because no one will be safe.  Parker is desperate to stop the Takers before it’s too late.  To do that he must track down the one person who can perfect the science behind the immortality pill, a chemist who just happens to be Parker’s long lost father.  Parker must do everything in his ability to get to his father before it’s too late no matter what the cost.

My Thoughts

I found this series to be absolutely and unbelievably addicting.  It’s certainly a series that needs more widespread praise than it’s received.  It’s the perfect read for fans of just about every genre.   Do you like mysteries, thrillers, paranormal  and/or suspense  books?  Then this series is definitely for you.  Spread the word about this series.  With each new volume, it gets better and better.  It’s highly original and draws the reader in with very little effort.  If you look on Goodreads, you’ll find that not many people have reviewed it and I just can’t understand why.  These books absolutely rock.   They are original.  The plots is well thought out.  The characters are unique, lovable and grow significantly as the series develops.  There are twists you never see coming and the endings aren’t predictable like many YA books.  It’s a definite must read for any avid YA reader but will also entice adult readers with it’s originality and complicated plot line.  I highly recommend this book and this series.  You will not be disappointed.
