The Edge of Never

By J.A. Redmerski

Series: Edge of Never, Book 1

My Rating: 4 Stars

The Edge of Never is J.A Redmerski’s first book in the Edge of Never series.  Clearly set in the new adult genre, lovers of romance will also be drawn to this book.  It’s deep, raw, engaging and sexy.  Redmerski has created a plot that takes the reader on a rollercoaster ride of emotion.  The reader will love taking this journey with both Camryn and Andrew.  And you can’t help but hope for the best for them.

Camryn Bennett feels stuck in her life. A life she believes is going absolutely no where very fast. She longs to do something different, to live outside the box, to be someone different. But she can’t seem to get to where she wants to be and no one in her life seems to understand her desires. Just days before as she’s supposed to move into a new apartment with her best friend, one night out changes everything for Camryn. Needing to separate herself from the situation Camryn knows she needs to get away…to anywhere but home; somewhere far away.  Armed with only her cell phone and a small bag of necessities, Camryn chooses to leave everything and everyone behind. She doesn’t know where she is going only that she’s leaving. She boards a Greyhound bus with no real destination in mind. On her way to nowhere, she meets Andrew Parrish. He’s different from anyone she’s ever met and he seems interested in hanging with her as friends which is exactly what Camryn wants.  She thinks.  What she doesn’t know is that Andrew is going to open her eyes to more than she could have ever imagined.

Andrew Parrish is avoiding life. Because of this he chooses to take the long way back to Wyoming to see his ailing father. He doesn’t want to explain why he chose the bus and he doesn’t think he needs to. His family is desperately trying to get him to make decisions that he’s chosen to avoid but he won’t be swayed. He’s determined to live life on his own terms, no matter what.  While on his journey he meets Camryn Bennett. He’s instantly drawn to her and though he knows he shouldn’t, he gets close to her. He wants to know her. He wants to show her life outside the box, to show her the greatness in the wanderlust they both feel. But he knows that ultimately his choices are going to hurt her and he won’t be able to keep her. But that’s not enough to stop him.

Together Camryn and Andrew set out on a life altering journey. They find each other. They find themselves. And they find a life they’ve only ever dreamed of having.  It’s a life that makes them happy beyond belief. But some things are not meant to last, despite how much you try to hold onto it and avoiding life will only prove that you can’t avoid it forever.  Eventually everything catches up to you whether you want it to or not.

My Thoughts

I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!!! Can I say it any louder? I don’t think so. This book made me think. It made me feel. It made me want to take my own journey and see where I would end up. Some might say Camryn ran away from her problems and in a sense maybe she did. But I felt that she set out to find herself and the life she had always dreamed of having. She was young, naive and innocent. Could she have gotten hurt? Absolutely. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this to just anyone but it says something about her character. It’s ok to want more from life and what it’s giving you. As long as your are willing to reach for it and work for it, you should chase after your dreams. I think that’s what I loved most about this book. Redmerski, creates a character that chases after her dreams. She says it’s ok to want something different from what everyone else expects you to do or have. And then it’s ok to go after it. Camryn is strong in not-so-obvious ways. Her strength is quiet and unassuming. Its determined and builds as time goes on. She opens herself to new experiences and challenges willingly and openly. She longs to experience life. There is nothing bad about any of this.

Then there is Andrew. He’s carefree and soulful. He’s willing to show Camryn what he knows. He’s protective and steadfast. Yes, he’s hiding something that he knows is going to hurt her but he can’t help himself. Despite everything happening in his life, he knows, deep down, that he wants happiness and love. He’s not convinced he can have it but he wants it none-the-less. And when he finds it, everything changes. Everything he thought he could walk away from and bury must be faced. In Camryn he’s finally found something worth living for and moving on with.

The Edge of Never is the first book in a two book series. The second book, The Edge of Always is available now. I can’t wait to pick this book up and devour it the way I did this book. I hope you love it as much as I did.
