A Little Too Much
By Lisa Desrochers
Series: A Little Too Far, Book 2
My Rating: 5 Stars
A Little Too Much is the second book in Lisa Desrochers’ A Little Too Far series. I loved this book!!! It’s sexy and steamy and everything you want in a new adult romance book. This book is all about Alessandro Moretti. While you don’t need to read the first book in the series to understand this one it’s very helpful. I loved Alessandro in A Little Too Far and while I was happy for Lexie in the book, I was quite sad for Alessandro. He was such a wonderful character. He seemed to really care for Lexie and while I knew they couldn’t wind up together, I felt so bad for him. I wanted him to be happy and the fact that A Little Too Far didn’t tell you what happened to him other than he was very conflicted and left. I found myself wanting to know more about what happened to him and what made turned him into the person that he was with Lexie. What made him decide to become a priest and what really happened with his brother. So you can imagine how thrilled I was to see the next book in the series was about him. A Little to Much while a continuation of Alessandro’s story, it’s told from the point of view of 22 year old Hilary McIntyre.
Hilary McIntyre has a troubled past. One that almost killed her. But she’s moved beyond those events and her life is on the right track now. Trying her hardest to land the perfect part in a Broadway show, she is determined to make all her dreams come true. But then the one person who could bring her past to the foreground shows up on her doorstep. Alessandro Moretti, the one man that both saved her and destroyed her. She has spent the last 8 years trying to forget him. She doesn’t understand why he has decided to show up now. And she’s not sure she wants to know. What she does know is that for some reason she can’t stay away from him. But despite her feelings, Hilary knows she can’t continue seeing him. If she does she’ll have to tell him her secrets. Secrets that she swore she would never reveal to anyone, especially him.
This book was a complete roller coaster ride of emotions. Hilary is so angry, bitter and hurt by Alessandro. But in Alessandro’s defense there wasn’t much he could have done to prevent what happened. Though deep down he always wondered what happened to Hilary because she truly meant something to him during a time in his life when he felt very alone. I loved seeing both Hilary and Alessandro struggle with their feelings for one another. And how their hearts led them both down a path that neither one of them believed they should go. But the heart wants what it wants no matter how hard you try to deny it. Desrochers has created two broken characters who together form a whole. Two people who have had to struggle their whole lives to be good people, to do the right thing. But finding what the right thing is can be the biggest struggle since it’s often not what you originally thought in the beginning.
I highly recommend this book. But be sure to checkout the first book so you can truly develop a liking for the sexy, quiet, smoldering Alessandro before you read his full story. You won’t regret it. Overall, I have to say that this is one of my favorite new adult books out there. It’s certainly a must read if you are as addicted to this genre as I am. Happy Reading.
